The Paulus Hook Historic District is located in Jersey City on the New York Harbor. It was established at the head of the navigation of the Morris Canal, and at the railhead for the port. The district was developed by a group of New York investors who in 1804 commissioned the creation of a city plan, which thirty years later became Paulus Hook. The Paulus Hook Historic District is an extremely well-preserved, 19th century urban residential area comprised of brick and brownstone row houses and uniform streetscapes.
