The State Street Houses Historic District lines both sides of State Street between Hoyt and Smith streets. The row houses were built between 1847 and the 1870s with Greek Revival and Italianate elements. The houses are primarily constructed of brick with some brownstone elements. Originally built for merchants and professionals working in Manhattan, these buildings retain their residential character and use.
